Nepal is nearly an hour and a half drive by road from Siliguri. The bordering Hamlet Kakarvita is approximately 42 kilometers from Siliguri. It is a landlocked Himalayan country in South Asia, bordered by the People's Republic of China and Autonomous Region of Tibet to the north and India to the south, east and west. More than 80% of its population people follow Hinduism. It is a small country but the landscape is diverse, ranging from the Terai in the south to the lofty Himalayas in the north. Like Sikkim or Bhutan its elevation also increases from south to north and in the north reaches the world highest peak called the Mount Everest.   • Roadways – Nepal has a decent network of roadways all over the country with over 8500 kilometers of paved roads. There are government and private vehicle service available round the clock.
  • Railways – Practically has no railway network except a small stretch in the south bordering India. One length of nearly 59 kilometer railway line in the south of Nepal is connected with the bordering town of India. Two connector are Raxaul in India to Amlekhganj in Nepal and the other is Raxaul in India to Janakpur in Nepal are in operation.

Pokhara

This is one of the tourist hotspot and is the home to the largest number of tourist in Nepal after Kathmandu. It is a city in central Nepal situated nearly 198 kilometers from Kathmandu. Pokhra is the capital of Kaski District and the fourth largest city of Nepal. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. The Himalayan range including the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu peaks, which are over 8000 meters, can be seen from Pokhara. Other attraction is the lake named Phewa Lake. Tourist flocks around some of the places popularly the ancient caves Mahendra and Gupteswar. There is an impressive falls named Patale Chhango or Devi / David's fall where the water from the Phewa Lake falls from a great height and thunders into a hole to disappears. Nepal like Bhutan has sharp elevated rise in altitude within a short distance. Sometimes the rise in elevation is nearly 1000 meters / 3333 feet to 8000 meters / 266400 feet within a distance of 28 to 30 kilometers. Phewa Lake as is an spectacular spot in the city borders on Phewa Tal, it is nearly 4.4 kilometer square and at an elevation of about 800 meters and in the north at around 1000 meters it touches the base of the Annapurna mountain range. World Peace Stupa is another tourist attraction. About half of all tourists visiting Pokhara are there for the start or end of a trek to the Annapurna Base Camp and Mustang. Festivals celebrated are Gai Jatra, Bhairab Naach (Bhairab dance), Krishnastami add colors to the beauty of Pokhara.

Chitwan

One of the green district with varied wildlife. Chitwan is one among the seventy - five districts of Nepal. The district has its district headquarters in Bharatpur. The district covers nearly 2218 square kilometers with a population of approximately 600,000. Among the places to visit are Narayangarh, on the bank of River Narayani. It is suppose to be the main town with numerous shopping / marketing areas or zones. It is a very populated market as people from all over the district and even from neighboring district come to shop. Gradually development work has taken over to have nearly 40 Village Development Committees and two Metropolitan cities - Bharatpur and Parsa. At the foot of the Himalayas, Chitwan is one of the few remaining dense undisturbed vestiges of the Terai region.

It is famous for its diversified flora and fauna. Other than India one can come across the single - horned Indian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis). Other wildlife includes Panthers / Leopards, crocodiles, pythons, and several kinds of deer live in the Chitwan National Park. Chitwan National Park one of the last refuges of the Royal Bengal tiger and the authorities are struggling to protect to the rhinos from poacher. Avi fauna found here are also of various types including the migratory species. It is one of the refuge of wild life lovers or enthusiast.

Muktinath

Muktinath also known as the Chumig Gyatsa is one of the most important religious destinations in Nepal it is also known as Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the place of salvation. It is situated at an elevation of nearly 3750 meters. Nepal is a region of highly diverse and rich geography, culture, people and religions. Nepal is the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama who was later known as Gautam Buddha. Muktinath is situated in the Thorong La mountain pass, part of the Himalayas, in the district of Mustang in Nepal. Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal. The mountains in the north have eight of the world's ten highest mountains, including Sagarmatha otherwise known as Mount Everest. It is a pilgrimage site for both the Buddhist and Hindu communities. It is one of the few places in the world that two of these communities have a sacred place shared in harmony by devotees. The place is of great historical importance and is well maintained by the traditional caretakers the Nuns of the lineage of Lama Wangyal. One more recommendation for all tourists is not to travel to Muktinath during the raining season which is generally in the month of June, July, August and the beginning of September because of the possibility of landslides. It might take days to come out of Muktinath, even the small flights are cancelled for days.
